Product Details

For those with an interest in the history and archaeology of the New Forest, this map displays around 250 places of historical interest that can be found within the various boundaries - historic and modern - that have formed the Forest.

Places ranging in date from the Palaeolithic (Old Stone Age) to the Second World War are shown, as are the old hundreds (as they stood around 400 years ago) that the area was once divided into.

The historic boundary of the Forest - the ancient perambulation - is displayed, as are the National Park boundary, district council area and the area covered by the 1280 Forest Eyre, which took in everything between Southampton Water and the River Avon.

An additional map shows places mentioned in the Domesday Book. Historic inclosures are also labelled.

The map will be posted in a 45cm long tube. Postage is included in the price.
